Dhondt, Annie (1942-2006)

Annie Dhondt is a Belgian malacologist. She became known for her fundamental research on the Inoceramidae and for her studies on the palaeobiogeography of Cretaceous molluscs. She ended her career as head of the fossil invertebrate department at the Institute.

She was the first woman to head a department at the Institute.

Annie Dhondt est une malacologiste belge. Elle se fit connaître pour ses recherches fondamentales sur les Inoceramidae et pour ses études sur la paléobiogéographie des mollusques du Crétacé. Elle a terminée sa carrière en tant que chef du département des invertébrés fossiles à l’Institut.

Elle fut de ce fait la première femme à diriger un département à l’Institut.

Annie Dhondt is een Belgische malacologe. Ze werd bekend door haar fundamenteel onderzoek naar de Inoceramidae en door haar studies over de paleobiogeografie van weekdieren uit het Krijt. Ze eindigde haar carrière als hoofd van de afdeling fossiele ongewervelden aan het Instituut.

Ze was de eerste vrouw aan het hoofd van een afdeling aan het Instituut.
